Lover's Wines For Valentine's  E-mail
What did Shakespeare write? "Wine provokes the desire but takes away the performance." Funnily enough I have never found that with wine alone, it is usually the three Gins, the Port and the Brandy surrounding the wine that do the damage.
My ideal seductive dinner has got to start with Champagne, probably Pink, so something like Ruinart Rose, the bubbles gently getting a suitable amount of alcohol into the bloodstream quickly.

Perhaps a few oysters with there being an "R" in the month, I had some in St Emilion recently very slightly poached in champagne on a bed of thinly sliced leak, one of the most seductive things I have ever had. Then a little pink beef, with the favourite in France for Valentines day, Saint Amour, one of the best Beaujolais villages making lovely, fresh, fruity wine with some smooth intensity, but I would also have a glass of a more voluptuous Cote d'Or Burgundy ,say a Vosne Romanee les Beaumonts (named after the shape of the vineyards being like beautiful breasts) as opposed to Les Petits Monts. I always feel good red Burgundy is the most aphrodisiastic wine. Then some dark chocolate again known for its special qualities in provoking desire, with a glass of 20 or 30 year old Tawny Port , warm rich and sweet. All guaranteed to enhance a lovers evening.
