I have the highest regard for the wine buying team at Waitrose and the excellent range they have on shelf. I was desolated when one of the wines I always go to Waitrose for La Gitana Manzanilla from Hildalgo, last bought for £5.99 a gift, disappeared from the shelves.
The other thing I go for is Vogel bread, which they invariable run out of. I always ask the staff if they have any in the store, but I became incensed when I was told they had dropped my beloved Hildalgo, and would I try the own label? {mosgoogle}
I said I had, and it is nothing like as good. The move to own label is fine if it is better, but when it is not it is the way to hell that stores like Safeway, Linfoods, Budgens, either have been to or are headed for.
Get it back, it is the best.
